The Truth Badge: wearable authentication that deepfakes can't copy.

Type — Hardware + Verification Innovation Status — Available for acquisition or development

The problem

Deepfakes have crossed the line from novelty to weapon. AI-generated video can now put convincing words in the mouth of any politician, CEO, or journalist — and by the time a fake is debunked, the damage is done. Stock prices move. Elections shift. Reputations collapse in hours.

Today's defenses are reactive: detection algorithms analyzing video after it spreads, locked in an arms race they are losing as generation models improve. High-profile figures have no way to make their real appearances verifiable at the source.

The insight

Deepfakes copy what they can see and predict. So give them something they can't predict.

Instead of trying to detect fakes after the fact, embed a live, continuously changing signal into every authentic appearance — a signal that is mathematically verifiable and breaks the moment anyone edits, splices, or regenerates the footage.

The concept

A wearable dynamic badge worn during speeches, interviews, and public appearances:

  1. Ever-changing display — The badge cycles through cryptographically generated color patterns and a rotating QR code, with a real-time running timestamp. No two seconds look alike, and the sequence can't be predicted in advance.
  2. Paired synchronization — Two badges are worn simultaneously and must stay in sync. A deepfake that fabricates one badge must perfectly fabricate both, in perfect lockstep.
  3. Projected light signature — The badge casts a coded, moving light pattern onto the wearer's clothing, weaving the verification signal into the video itself.
  4. Public verification — Anyone can scan the footage: the QR sequence and timestamps check against a public verification server. Edited or spliced video shows sync breaks and timestamp gaps immediately.

The impact

Who this is for

Political leaders and campaigns, corporate executives, broadcast journalists, government press offices, and video platforms seeking a verifiable authenticity standard.
