The problem

Rockets, aircraft, and bridges fail the same way: small, invisible stresses accumulate until something breaks. The warning signs are always there — a vibration slightly off, a hot spot forming, a hairline expansion — but catching them requires many different sensors, each measuring one thing, each with its own wiring, weight, power draw, and point of failure.

In aerospace, every gram and every wire matters. So engineers make trade-offs about what to monitor, and the failure that ends a mission is often the one nobody was watching for.

The insight

The structure is already telling you everything. The problem is that we listen with a dozen separate instruments instead of one.

What if a single miniature device could sense heat, cold, vibration, movement, tearing, and expansion at once — small enough and cheap enough to embed throughout a structure instead of at a few chosen points?

  2. Embed everywhere — Because each unit is tiny and low-cost, dozens or hundreds can be placed throughout a rocket body, aircraft wing, or bridge span — creating a full nervous system instead of a few isolated checkpoints.
  3. Real-time health map — All modules report continuously, building a live structural health picture: where stress is building, where temperature is drifting, where material is beginning to fatigue.
  4. Predictive maintenance — Software flags patterns before they become failures, so parts are replaced on evidence instead of on fixed schedules or after incidents.
